Summary
Witkoff will travel to Russia on Tuesday after talks with Volodymyr Zelensky, who said the US envoy would carry ideas for a potential peace settlement to Moscow.
Zelensky said Ukraine backed a US proposal for an energy ceasefire immediately, but accused Russia of continuing its attacks instead of reciprocating.
One proposal discussed was a possible trilateral meeting among leaders, with Zelensky saying the next step now depends on what Vladimir Putin says.
The remarks cast Witkoff's Russia trip as the latest test of whether US-backed diplomacy can move beyond ceasefire proposals toward broader negotiations.
