Amazon Cuts Black Apple Watch Ultra 3 to $599.97 as Ultra 4 Arrival Spurs Clearance

Q: What hidden costs lurk behind the Apple Watch Ultra 3's satellite features once the two-year free period expires?

The main hidden cost is uncertainty: Apple gives the Apple Watch Ultra 3’s satellite features free for two years after activation, but it has not said what happens after that or what it will charge. For Apple’s own satellite service, Emergency SOS, Messages, and Find My via satellite are included during that free period. After it ends, Apple could begin charging a subscription or bundle some features into a paid tier. Apple has repeatedly extended the free period for iPhone users, but it still has not published a post-trial price, and there is no clear long-term pricing commitment for the Watch either. There is also a more immediate cost tied to how some features work. Apple says Messages via satellite and Find My via satellite on Apple Watch Ultra require a carrier plan. So even during the free Apple trial, some users may still need to keep paying for compatible cellular service to access the full satellite toolset. Carrier-provided satellite service can add another layer of expense. Some carriers offer their own satellite connectivity through separate partnerships, and Apple notes that supported plans may be required. In those cases, carrier fees and data charges may apply independently of Apple’s free two-year period. So the bargain watch price does not guarantee free off-grid use forever. Buyers should assume the satellite safety and messaging features may eventually carry either an Apple subscription, a carrier-plan requirement, or both.

$599.97 gets buyers the black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 3 with matching black Milanese Loop on Amazon, roughly $300 below its original $899 price.
The markdown appears tied to the launch of the newer Ultra 4, leaving the prior model in clearance even though comparable Ultra 4 configurations still sit near the old price.
Amazon's offer is the lowest price tracked for this configuration on the site and about $100 below the previous clearance mention.
The same price has surfaced a few times in recent weeks and disappeared quickly, suggesting limited inventory or short-lived promotional windows.
