Summary
$180 Fitbit Edge is now up for pre-order ahead of an October 27 store release, giving Google a much cheaper wrist device than the $400 Pixel Watch 5.
7-day battery life, built-in GPS, ECG, skin-temperature tracking and iPhone compatibility position the Edge as a fitness-first device rather than a full smartwatch.
Four notable omissions explain the $220 gap: no Wear OS app store, no LTE or Wi-Fi, no NFC for Google Wallet, and no on-watch Gemini voice assistant.
Pixel Watch 5 still targets power users who want third-party apps, cellular connectivity and wrist-based smart controls, while the Edge aims at buyers focused mainly on health tracking.
