Summary
Deepgram said Thursday it is buying Daily, the company behind the open-source Pipecat framework, in a deal aimed at strengthening its real-time voice and video AI stack.
Pipecat orchestrates voice and video streams, speech-to-text, large language models and text-to-speech while cutting latency, giving Deepgram deeper infrastructure reach for building voice agents.
Daily and Deepgram said Pipecat will remain open-source and vendor-neutral, while Deepgram also introduced Real-Time Context Standard, a protocol co-developed with the Pipecat team for agent metadata and response control.
Daily has raised more than $62 million, and the acquisition extends Deepgram's push after its $130 million Series C earlier this year made it a unicorn.
The deal reflects a broader consolidation wave in voice AI, where model and infrastructure companies including ElevenLabs, LiveKit and Vapi have all attracted fresh funding.
