Summary
$1,999 gets Apple’s new 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro, now up for preorder ahead of Nov. 6 shipments, while the company keeps the same starting price as the prior M5 model.
M6 brings a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 170Gbps memory bandwidth, with Apple touting up to 30% faster graphics performance and 24-hour battery life.
The laptop keeps the older chassis and Liquid Retina XDR display, with three Thunderbolt 4 ports, MagSafe, HDMI and an SD card slot rather than the newer PROLED XDR design.
That split leaves Apple’s MacBook Pro line segmented: the OLED-based PROLED XDR version starts at $2,899, while no 16-inch model currently ships with the base M6 chip.
