Summary
Bodycam and dashcam footage released Thursday shows Vancouver police sending K-9 Midas through a driver's window to end a 40-minute roadside standoff on July 26.
Police said Brandon Wells had ignored a traffic stop after reports he was passed out, appeared impaired and was inhaling from compressed air cans while driving.
Video shows the vehicle hitting a curb, accelerating and nearly entering a yard before an officer used a Grappler device to stop it because Wells posed an immediate danger on the road.
Officers then spent more than 40 minutes issuing commands and weighing less-lethal options while Wells allegedly kept inhaling from cans, before the dog was deployed and he was arrested.
Wells was booked into the Clark County Jail on charges including attempting to elude police, DUI, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
