Summary
Santa Barbara County prosecutors expanded the case against actor-producer Shane Ryan Gledhill to 24 felony counts, up from 15 after his Aug. 3 arrest.
A nearly five-year investigation began after a 17-year-old reported alleged abuse that authorities said started when she was 15, eventually identifying nine survivors who were all minors at the time.
Detectives said Gledhill, 46, allegedly used online casting calls and filmmaking projects to contact aspiring young actors; charges include rape, child molestation, forcible sexual assault and child sexual abuse material possession.
Investigators seized thousands of digital files in a 2022 search of his Lompoc home and released his booking photo because he allegedly used the professional names Shane Ryan and Shane Ryan-Reid.
Authorities say potential victims or witnesses may be in California, Los Angeles and the East Coast; Gledhill is held on $2 million bail and is due in court Sept. 9.
