Leaks point to an Ultra that is roughly 4.5 mm thick when unfolded, with a dual-display design, hinge hardware, vapor-chamber cooling and batteries split across both halves. In that layout, Apple reportedly cannot fit the larger camera modules expected on the iPhone 18 Pro line, including a variable-aperture main camera and a dedicated telephoto lens. Multiple reports say the Ultra will instead use a simpler two-camera system with Main and Ultra Wide lenses. Battery is constrained for the same reason. Even if the Ultra’s combined battery lands around 4,800 to 5,000 mAh, the device must power two displays and fit cells around the hinge and foldable structure. By contrast, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumored to get a larger single-body battery—about 10% above the 17 Pro Max—plus efficiency gains from the A20 Pro and C2 modem, making it the likely endurance leader. The Ultra’s high price reflects novelty and complexity more than all-out specs. Reports suggest Apple is charging for the foldable form factor, crease-reducing display, liquid-metal hinge, thin titanium body and iPad-like multitasking experience. In other words, the Ultra is being positioned as Apple’s most ambitious design, not necessarily its most uncompromising camera or battery phone.
