Apple’s own battery guidance says background activity, notifications, and poor signal can all increase power use. So the feature is not free from battery impact; it is just likely to be modest for most people. There is also a practical compromise. Because Notify Me runs on the device where you create the alert, Apple suggests using the device you are most likely to have with you. An iPhone is better for timely alerts, but that also means the phone is the one doing the background checking. A Mac may save your phone some work, but alerts can arrive late if the computer is asleep or unused. For most users, the sensible approach is simple: use Notify Me sparingly, prefer daily checks unless timing is critical, and watch Battery settings after enabling several alerts.
