Summary
Alleigha Botner told jurors Caleb Flynn answered her "I want to kill her" message with "That makes two of us," then sent final texts before Ashley Flynn was shot saying "tomorrow it all starts" and asking for prayers.
Hours after the killing, Botner testified, Flynn hugged her at Ashley's parents' home and said, "It didn't happen the way we thought it would, did it?"
Defense lawyers argued the messages referred to divorce, not murder, and drew testimony from Botner that she never believed Flynn meant violent statements literally and had researched divorce and deleting messages to hide the affair.
Ohio BCI examiner Joseph Wilhelm then began building a digital timeline from Flynn's iPhone, saying ChatGPT was deleted on Feb. 15 and GroupMe and Instagram shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 16.
Prosecutors also played 2 AI-generated songs recovered from the phone as they widened the case from affair messages to digital evidence around Flynn's 911 call.
