The Social Security Administration published the full 2027 benefit calendar, confirming that most retirement, survivor and disability recipients paid after May 1997 will receive checks on the second, third or fourth Wednesday based on birth dates.
Weekend and federal holiday conflicts will push payments to the preceding weekday, a rule that moves some 2027 and early-2028 deposits forward.
SSI-only recipients will get payments on the first of the month or earlier if needed, with May, August and January 2028 benefits arriving at the end of the previous month.
Beneficiaries who started Social Security before May 1997, or who receive both Social Security and SSI, will continue to get Social Security on the 3rd of each month; January 2027 payments for some groups arrive on Dec. 31, 2026.
The schedule matters for household budgeting as the average monthly retired-worker benefit stood at $2,087.52 in August 2026.
