Gemini Opens Play Store Listings by Voice or Text, Leaving 1 Final Install Tap

Summary
Google’s Gemini can now take Android users straight to an app’s Play Store page from a voice or text prompt, turning “install [app name]” into a shortcut rather than a manual store search.
The flow stops short of full automation: Gemini surfaces the correct listing, but users still must tap Install themselves, and Google does not support hands-free app installation.
Setup requires Gemini to be the phone’s default digital assistant, plus a personal Google account, the Play Store app, Keep Activity turned on, and users aged 18 or older.
The feature also handles descriptive text requests such as finding a password manager or habit tracker, and works on Android phones and tablets, but not work or school accounts or Chromebooks.
Switching to Gemini replaces Google Assistant on phones and paired earbuds or watches, while smart displays, speakers, TVs, cars and Pixel Tablets still keep Assistant.
