Dell Launches XPS 16 Creator Edition Globally From $3,799 With 1,600-Nit OLED

Q: Why are North American buyers forced to pay nearly $7,000 to unlock the 128GB RAM configuration of Dell's new AI powerhouse?

North American buyers are paying nearly $7,000 for the 128GB version because Dell is currently restricting that configuration to a fixed bundle, not because 128GB of RAM alone costs that much. On Dell’s U.S. and Canadian stores, the XPS 16 Creator Edition has limited customization. To get 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory, buyers must also take the higher-end 20-core RTX Spark N1X chip and a 2TB SSD. That forced package pushes the price to $6,999 in the U.S. and CAD 9,699 in Canada. The key issue is regional configurator policy. In other markets, Dell’s configurator is more flexible: reports show a 128GB model paired with a 1TB SSD is available in places such as Europe, the U.K. and Australia, at materially lower prices than the North American top SKU. That indicates the steep jump is largely a sales and SKU limitation, not a technical requirement of the platform. There is also a hardware context behind the premium. The 128GB option sits on NVIDIA’s top RTX Spark N1X configuration, aimed at local AI, large-model development, 3D creation and heavy video workflows. Because the machine uses unified memory shared by CPU and GPU, high-capacity memory is a defining feature for those workloads and is inherently expensive. Even so, the unusually sharp price jump in North America is mainly explained by Dell bundling that memory tier with more storage and offering fewer build-to-order choices at launch. In short, buyers are being forced into Dell’s highest preset North American SKU.

Prices start at $3,799 in the US for an 18-core RTX Spark N1X model with a 5,120-core GPU, 32 GB RAM and 512 GB storage; the 20-core version starts at $3,999 with 1 TB.
Higher-end configurations add 64 GB or 128 GB RAM, with the top listed options reaching $6,999 in the US and CAD 9,699 in Canada because North America currently lacks custom configuration choices.
