Summary
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is most widely referred to internally as “iPhone Ultra,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, ahead of the company’s “Surprise and Shine” launch event on Sept. 9.
That name remains uncertain because the device reportedly lacks several hallmarks of Apple’s top-tier models, including a telephoto lens, Face ID, the Action button and the longest battery life in the lineup.
A roughly 4mm unfolded profile has also fueled arguments for an Air-branded name, with possibilities such as iPhone Air Pro or Air Plus positioning the foldable around thinness rather than premium camera features.
Other names floated include iPhone Duo, iPhone Folio, iPhone Max and iPhone Plus, but the official branding is expected to be settled when Apple unveils the device tomorrow.
