$30 Galaxy SmartTag 3 adds pet activity tracking, letting owners monitor a pet’s movement, active time and sleep in the SmartThings app.
Samsung paired that with longer-distance finding: Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding gives distance and direction guidance from up to 60 meters away, about three times farther than before, with UWB for close-range precision.
The tracker also gains cross-platform support for iPhone and Android users, plus Place Notifications that alert when it enters or leaves a geofenced area.
Battery life rises to 550 days in normal mode or 790 in power-saving mode, while the device is 35% smaller and 33% lighter than its predecessor.
Black and white versions are due in early November, with a four-pack priced at $100.
